Imagine you are in a hospital and you can’t speak, who will speak for you? If you aren’t able to swallow or breathe, what will happen to you? Without a plan, how will your healthcare providers know your wishes? We all hope to be able to communicate until the end, but it doesn’t always happen that way.
April 16th marks the 13th Annual National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD). National Healthcare Decisions Day was started in 2008 to inspire, to educate and to empower the public and healthcare providers about the importance of advance care planning.
This initiative encourages people to complete their healthcare directive, to name a healthcare agent and to express their wishes regarding their healthcare in a written document, legally executed.
Fernandez Elder Law is committed to this movement and provides a Power of Attorney for Healthcare and Healthcare directives as a part of a client’s estate planning services.
